Steve Guppy is one of two players capped by England’s National Team at the senior international level to be playing his club football in the United States currently: the other is David Beckham. Guppy, now 38 scored the game winning goal Friday night as the Rochester Rhinos beat the Charleston Battery in the first leg of their USL-1 playoff series 2–0. The second leg will be held in Charleston Sunday night and will be braodcast nationally on FSC.

In the other playoff matches Friday night, the road weary Montreal Impact succomed in Seattle to the Sounders 2–1. Thanks to the CONCACAF Champions League, Montreal is in a period of playing 13 matches in 29 days. The return leg is at Stade Saputo Sunday night. Vancouver beat Minnesota 2–0 as well.

The Regular Season champion Puerto Rico Islanders recieved a bye to the semifinal round of the playoffs.
