I was able to watch the Honduras again on this afternoon. From the perspective of not being caught up in the excitement of the game you see things differently: A few observation:

Freddy Adu sits on the bench because he only knows his own number, did anyone see him look for a pass once he had the ball? I did not.

Bradley who is often a subject of blame for a lack of tactical moves did a excellent job turning the game with his substitutions in the 70th minute.

Quaranta, could be the player who we are still looking for to add the scoring punch off the bench for the WC, he works well with his teammates in moving the ball to the open man and drives home his chances.

Davies has even better talent then we think he does. The man is all over the field, and more important then his speed and his energy is the chances he creates by his play for other players.

Feilhaber and Ching continue to impress all with their hard work and team approach to the game.

Far from just a "B" team we are seeing another building block for the 2010 WC effort.

Problem Peter Osgood with the USSF Development Academy is that they have ZERO teams from Arizona or New Mexico participating. Yes, zero. Here in South Florida they have the Schutlz Academy which tends to be very suburban white middle class and Miami FC's U-17 which is more latino. Next year we get Weston into the USSF Development Academy among the 15 new teams which push it to 79. Also the Houston Dynamo U-17s which have lots of latino kids will be joining. But the problem of Arizona and New Mexico means the future Luis Robles or Edgar Castillo's fall away.

park bolivar, great points all. You broke down the conundrum extremely well, until the US has more people in power like Cabrera of the U17's then clearly things arent going to become more inclusive of the complete talent pool in this country - or available to this country.

It is INCREDIBLY frustrating that so many good folks who understand the game and can pinpoint the lack of inclusion of talented kids from all ethinci backgrounds and yet there is consistently a US Soccer hierharchy that doesnt acknowledge it, that doesnt know how to change the inefficienies in the system etc.

the USSF top 64 club system that kicked into gear several years ago was clearly the largest step forward ever in youth futbol in this country and I am optimistic more talented hispanic kids will find their way into all levels of US Soccer because of it.

People, let's be reasonable. The US in its current form has accomplished many things, by utilizing both the suburban talents (Donovan) and by integrating other ethnic groups (Tab Ramos, Preki, Reyna, etc.). However, I think what many are missing is what we lacked to finish off Brazil. Possession, pointless, don't let Brazil have the ball for 45 + minutes possession. That ability to hold onto the ball, string passes together, not just counter attack with speed, and take away the momentum is something we need. To do this, we need what the hispanic player can bring, comfort and flair. We will also score more goals and have more chances against the worlds best defenses.

And until we incorporate Torres and others who can give us that, it doesn't matter how many times we score. At some point, tackles are not enough.

Oh, yes, and Beckerman. I've never thought he was a bad player, but he isn't any better at passing balls in a non lateral fashion than Clark or Mastroeni. We need midfielders who can slice a ball forward, to connect with our players, or we won't even be able to counter. We need someone like Feilhaber or Torres to spring the counter attack, or just keep the damn ball.

Panama were absolutely robbed. Mexico was looking much much stronger through the whole of that second half, and would have likely scored (despite Panama's desperate, heroic defense). Why oh why did Javier Aguirre do that? Why did he think he could get away with it?

kyle: Yes, what Osgood said was indeed racist.

Ugh, what a shame that the usa has so many players of so many backgrounds to choose from. If only Mexico didn't lose that war...

Panama were robbed! How can the whole Mexican bench not get red carded for that????? And Panama loses a field guy who was assaulted by the Mexican bench. Typical CONCACAF.
