Gale US World Cup Squad Announced

US U-20 National Team coach Thomas Rongen announced his squad ahead of the upcoming U-20 World Cup in Egypt. Here is the squad.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Sean Johnson (Central Florida; Lilburn , Ga. ), Josh Lambo (FC Dallas; Middleton , Wis. ), Brian Perk (UCLA; Rancho Santa Margarita , Calif. )

DEFENDERS (6): Gale Agbossoumonde ( Miami FC; Syracuse , N.Y. ), Kyle Davies (FC Dallas; Danville , Calif. ), Aaron Maund (Notre Dame; Dorchester , Mass. ), Ike Opara ( Wake Forest ; Durham , N.C. ), Anthony Wallace (FC Dallas; St. Petersburg , Fla. ), Sheanon Williams (Unattached; Boston , Mass. )

MIDFIELDERS (8): Danny Cruz ( Houston Dynamo; Glendale , Ariz. ), Mikkel Diskerud (Stabak; Oslo , Norway ), Dilly Duka (Rutgers; Montville , N.J. ), Jorge Flores (Chivas USA ; Anaheim , Calif. ), Jared Jeffrey (Club Brugge; Richardson , Texas ), Brian Ownby (Virginia; Glen Allen, Va. ), Dillon Powers (Notre Dame; Plano , Texas ), Michael Stephens (UCLA; Naperville , Ill. )

FORWARDS (4): Sam Garza ( Denver ; Highland Village , Texas ), Peri Marosevic (FC Dallas; Rockford , Ill. ), Brek Shea (FC Dallas; College Station , Texas ), Tony Taylor ( Jacksonville ; Jacksonville , Fla. )

I am currently working on the USL story and a wrap up of last night’s Man City-Crystal Palace game in England, so my analysis of this squad will come later in the day.

The squad features a total of ten professional players: two based in Europe, seven based in MLS and one based in USL-1. Five of the ten professional players feature for FC Dallas, while Houston, Chivas USA and Miami FC are all featured with one selection each.

Feel free to leave your thoughts.

The timing of the tournament has left European based players in the lurch, and I think we’ll see far fewer Patos and Jozy type players this go round.

Idahosa you need to chill. Bernardo barely played for napoli’s reserve team. Neither of them were ever very involved with the US youth set up. And both of them were booted from a camp due to disciplinary issues. Bernardo has already said several times that he his committed to playing for the US. And Nazzani barely even speaks english. We’re lucky for him to even think about playing for us.

NAZZANI USES HIS FEET TO PLAY NOT HIS MOUTH. I THINK NOT HAVING NAZZANI ON THE TEAM IS A BIG LOSS, I SAW HIM PLAYING AT BOLOGNA NOBODY PASSES BY HIM. ALSO ARGUEZ YOU CANT LEAVE HIM HOME . WHO KNOWS WHAT RONGENS GOT IN HIS HEAD.

Who would have ever thought FC Dallas would be a hotbed of US player development?

I know, crazy isn’t it? Give them some credit, I guess.

The remaining MLS and USL teams represented have less players COMBINED than FC Dallas. Amazing.

I don’t know why “I guess” needs to be added. They do deserve credit, but i just wish Dom Kinnear was coaching them rather than dallas’ bad coach.
