To Robert & Jason. It was Robbie Rogers who took the corner. All three of us were wrong. When I saw the close up shot of Donovan, I thought he took the corner. The camera angle wasn't good and getting the post match e-mail from US Soccer it said Rogers took the corner for the assist.

Goddamn you are a horrible writer. Totally unreadable. Just go back and read it. Every sentence is fucked up in some way. Every freaking line.

I wonder how much damage amateur fan reports like this do to the sport. It certainly can't be helping.

I believe the USA had EVERYTHING to play for in this game and it wasnt a "throw-away."

Our players are on teams half a world away and every opportunity they get to play as a unit has to be capitalized upon. This isnt Europe where England National players all play within a 3 or 4 hour time span. This is the USA, where our better players are half a world away and in many cases riding the pine for their club (e.g., Onyewu.)

Bradley could have used this game to "tinker" his line up, but it wasnt a "let the fat kid play" type of game. Why not be consistent? Why not play for a big margin of victory? Why not put the "A-team" out there and tell them to keep scoring? Send a message to the world that our game against Spain wasnt a fluke, that we are coming to SA with cruel intentions, and that we can find the net (not just from set pieces.)

Perhaps its the college football fan in me that wants the big headlines and big scores. A draw was enough, but a front page headline; "USA Pounds Costa Rica for 6" would have been my preference. Future opposition in Europe would have taken noticed. It might not have meant much to them, but is certainly would have been better than a "kiss your sister" draw.

If Casey wouldn't have biffed the shot so bad, we would have had a goal RIGHT AT the moment of silence. Would have been a weird sound for sure.
