Where, who, what source do you have? If you're citing the NYtimes goal post that cited the Daily Mail, then you're citing the very first news source. One that is very old in comparison. You're also citing a source that stated that the club would attempt to join MLS...but for the lack of professionalism wrote "MSL". So take that source with a grain of salt.

I will check back next time when you have actual news to break.

And....you fell for it. Holy cow. You just wrote 1,100 words about something that very likely is not true, or only partially true. What is it with this site, anyway?

It is sad to hear the name of the Cosmos will be treated as a marketing gimmick.

P.S. Just wondering why the Cowboys, instead of the Packers or even Bears were picked for the Football example?

Packers est. 1919 12 titles
Bears est. 1919 9 titles
vs.
Cowboys est. 1960 5 titles

If this "globetrotters" type team ever comes into existence, it will be a shame to waste such a historic name on it. That being said, the only way the Cosmos should come back is if a) RBNY is sold and rebrands or b) FC New York in USL changes it's name. NO SECOND MLS TEAM IN NY! I understand the reasoning behind wanting a second club, in fact I've been to NY and tried to make a match but since I was all the way across town in Queens there wasn't enough time. BUT, in a country as large as the US(plus Canada), there is no need to burn two precious teams in one city(or metro area) when many places have no team(this goes for CUSA too). I love the Cosmos name but I don't want to see it revived at the expense of another market(for instance, my hometown, South Florida) not having MLS.

Funny to see the Cosmos' logo again...I was a kid in the days of the NASL, to me the Cosmos were what the Yankees are to many still--the team you love to hate.

Part of why I find myself rooting against Blanco even today is because he reminds me somehow of the arrogance-oozing Giorgio Chinalia.

And really, this all sounds like a weak argument to me. Where's the flaw in the counterargument that the Cosmos dominated the NASL precisely BECAUSE they themselves attracted a 'travelling array' of over-the-hill carpetbagging superstars being paid what other teams could never offer. And I say that as a person having been a huge fan of Franz Beckenbauer.
