I can not believe the win. They played AMAZING and I can only hope they have it again vs Brasil.

But can anyone tell me why Howard (or Bradley) insists on kicking the ball forward everytime, versus throwing it or short passes? I saw that USA attempts more long balls than anyone else in the Confed Cup pool and worse, connects the fewest times.

He did an amazing job last night so tough to call anything out now, but can someone who knows soccer strategy tell me: is it Howard's own decision to kick the long ball practically everytime? Or is it the strategy of Bradley that tells Howard to do it? I just don't see the benefit when we essentially give a turnover with every long ball from the goal.

One idea that I commented on before the game to Kartik, is how much did weather play a factor in the US victory. Did the cold weather aid the US who had more experience playing near 32F which it was at game time? Was the cold weather night in Chicago in June when the US played Honduras an unplanned for training game for South Africa in it's cold weather season? Maybe so.
