Rooney%20Arrives Rooney Cleared to play; Returns to Germany (Photo from Yahoo.com)

A whole nation rejoiced when this picture was broadcast earlier today. Wayne Rooney has been declared fit and will play in Germany, though his status for Saturday’s opener versus Paraguay is still up in the air. With Rooney’s return England must be considered among the favorites to win the World Cup. My predictions will be up on the site tomorrow.

Looks like someone is back peddling and jumping on the England bandwagon. We have room yet! Welcome aboard, Kartik!

Kartik, I am now signed up for the site. I too predict England will win the World Cup. Of course I hope that Costa Rica can play well, but I am realistic about our chances. England with Rooney and Gerrard healthy is the team to beat.

I’m excited for England that Rooney has been cleared to play. I hope England doesn’t rush him back too soon. He can use another week to get back into shape. Even then I’d only play him 45 mins max in game 2.

Xavier, the team to beat? What are you another Brit posing as a Costa Rican?????? How did this whole thing with England start? Is it that the media is so desperate for them to win, much like the period the Yankeees were down in the 1980s here stateside in Baseball????? England will absolutely not beat Germany, Italy, Brazil or France in an important match. It seems they never have before, so why should they start beating those superior sides now?

England will be lucky to get out of the first round. Swedeen and Paraguay are both tested, experienced sides with more versatility and action than England. England probably gets out but they are far from a guarentee for the knock out stages. Of course if they get out of the first round they have a shot to go a long long way.

Reading and Boro have acknowledged interest in the Gouch!

Original story/blub was on soccernet.com. A scout for Reading had come over to watch the US’s pre WC games and was impressed by 3 players one of them being Gouchy. With Reading joining the EPL this season, Gouch might get a chance to compete on the big stage.

As for Rooney… how nice. I am sure glad that this wont become another excuse for England in the event they dont do well in the tournament.
If you think our media is bad… try following the news in the UK.

Always it si lower tier EPL clubs interested in Americans. No real club would take an American. Look at Man U. Fergie paid the price for that inept American keeper who couldn’t stop a single shot.

Again, USA will be swept out.

Rooney’s returns mean we are the favorites in the cup.

Wayne Rooney is a good player, no questions about that. However, England isnt a very good T-E-A-M.

Spectacular on an individual level, but cohesion on the pitch… I dont see it. It is helpful that 3 studs like JT, Lampard, and Joe Cole are available to be lined up together, but are they enough to make it a TEAM?

Cant be too critical of “lower level” EPL clubs when Wigan was fantastic this past season.

Show some Respect to the West Staines Massive.

coach you know nothing about football. Typical Yank who doesn’t understand the game. Who is this gouch fellow anyhow? Some yank who’ll play in the lower divisions here.

USA will be out in a clean sweep.

Peter Crouch is going to be the biggest revelation of this World Cup. He will score several goals and the teamwork he has with Gerrard will be evident. Look at our midfield. J. Cole, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and young Aaron Lennon! Don’t forget about the contributions from the backline with Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole!

A sense of anticipation must fill England tonight. I wish I were still there instead of being relagated to watching the games from here in Hartford, a town that doesn’t even understand that football or soccer if you prefer exists.

I think England has as much of a chance of winning the Cup as Spain does making it to the finals against England.
