I usually do not care what Treker says as he is always the voice of doom, but that was a really silly rant. If Bradley played other guys instead of the ones he played he would have bitched about the ones who didn’t play. Adu needs to play for his club…noooo, he needs to be at the Gold Cup, What is it? HEAPS!!! Hell I’m a Revs fan, and I’M saying Huh?
It was a bad loss, BFD, until Mexico beats the A team they will always mention this victory with a caveat! Oh yes they will!!

Let me thank Jamie for standing by the Chicago players like Jon Spector and J DeMerit from UIC. Also, he has kind words about the Fire.

I have to agree with Jamie about the MLS. The financial model has to change. The American public is ready for big time soccer. The rules have to allow MLS teams to acquire talent to satisfy the desire of the American Fan for world class soccer.

Now as to the statements about the USMNT, I believe Jamie is flat wrong on some statements in my opinion. Anyone who has seen Freddy Adu play lately knows why he gets little time. Adu forgets that there are 10 other men wearing his team colors. I saw the Honduras qualifier in person, the US did not get lucky. They fought hard against a team with some of the best talent in Concacaf and controlled the game except for a slow start. Yes, they got off to a slow start and have shown a habit of doing such under Bradley, which is a fair comment against Bradley, but good fortune did not bring a`victory. Good tactics and players did.

After the Gold Cup semi-final the US assist. coach appeared on WGN radio in Chicago, maybe Jamie did not hear the show. The coach pointed out how the US team that got beat bad Sunday was a team that had to be put together on the road and on the fly after the return from South Africa. Was it up to or even possible for Bob Bradley to do a lot of teaching given the across the country locations the Gold Cup played at this year. Is it the job of the Manager of the Sr. team to teach technique to his players? They come together for only a short time each year and you as coach have to hope that a Jon Spector or Tim Howard have picked up some technique from the likes of Sir Alex and David Moyes. Who are better teachers? Yes, we can and should have better coaching in MLS and that would help those players and the USMNT.

I do agree that the final score of the championship game leaves a bad impression and gets a bad headline. Yet, in the same breath Jamie will remind everyone that it was a US “C” team. Bradley to his credit has not been afraid to take a loss to help his team in the long run. When it has counted Bradley’s results are a Gold Cup win in 07, a place in the finals of the Confederations Cup, a “C” team that made it to this years Gold Cup finals, and a spot is the 2010 WC is all but secured. How much better does it get? What was said about the US team by Jamie was about the same things that critics said about Italy before the last WC and in the group stage. Keeping the A team or a B+ group together for the Gold Cup would have made a win next month in Mexico how much more likely? Not very is the response since, your group would be fatigued after all the games it has played.

Let me say despite the above Jamie Trecker is in my opinion the foremost American commentator on soccer. Despite the fact that one may disagree with him half of the time if not more he has an educated opinion that needs to be heard. Great podcast by Kartik, it’s always a treat to hear the both of them.
