large isles 300x197 Major League Soccer Talk Podcast #96: Tiyi Shipalane, Harrisburg City Islanders

Last Tuesday Harrisburg  pulled off the upset of this year’s US Open Cup with a win in Foxborough against the New England Revolution. Tiyi Shipalane, one of the clubs star players joins us to preview Tuesday’s quarterfinal versus DC United, look back at last weeks upset, discuss his native South Africa and converse about his playing career. You may remember Shipalane from the 2006 PDL Final when he scored the match winner for the Michigan Bucks versus the Laredo Heat.

Also you can listen to me on this week’s United Mania podcast with Chris Webb, Mike Martin and Martin  here

I was also on this week’s La Galaxy sponsored show on ESPN 710 with Dave Denholm. Listen here.

Game wasnt played in foxbourgh it was in conn. The Revs had the same diliema as last year weather to try and go after the open cup or try and win superliga, naturally they chose superliga were there is more money to be made. They finshed that opencup game with 9 players on the field due to injuries with all the subs used at the start of the 2nd half.

yes they wanted the superliga more than the open cup is seemed like however its still doesnt defeat the fact that they lost to the USL-2 team. harrisburg had good players too. i mean that Ty Shipalane kid has really great talent and was by far the best player of the City Islanders i thought.
