Gibbs Out Until November

Gibbs US Gibbs Out Until November
US International Defender Cory Gibbs whose pre World Cup injury in a friendly versus Morocco was a huge blow for Team USA will be sidelined until November. Gibbs club team, English Premier League side Charlton Athletic announced the bad news earlier Sunday. Gibbs, a native of Fort Lauderdale is probably the best man marker that Team USA has and also is dangerous in the air on set pieces.

bad news for Gibbs, Charlton and US Soccer. Gibbs would have been the obvious replacement for Eddie Pope after his red card in the Italy game and actually may have started instead of cherundolo
(sp?) on the right side had it not been for the untimely injury.

Charlton has released it via their media relations attache. A real pity for the Addicks as they were counting on Gibbs to be a key contributor in the upcoming campaign after being bought from a Dutch side.

Gibbs is just the latest of the most skilled American players to suffer from chronic injuries. Claudio Reyna, John O’Brien, Chris Armas and Frankie Hedjuk were almost always hurt when the national team needed them the most.

Bad news. We’re counting on him for qualifying and 2010 so he better get healthy soon.
