DC United Stunned in Open Cup

The third division Harrisburg City Islanders defeated MLS giants DC United 1-0 in a US Open Cup match last night. DC United played a reserve lineup and like many MLS clubs appear not to be taking the Open Cup, one of the world’s oldest domestic cup competitions seriously. Back in days of the NASL, the league’s clubs didn’t even compete in the cup, and now with the exception of a few clubs most MLS teams seem to be viewing these matches as glorified reserve games. What a pity.

Are you talking about the FA Cup or the Open Cup? Funny how some of the same issues apply.
