I've always been a big quaranta hater... seemed like a classic waste of talent and dude who let his top prospect status get to his head. Always seemed like a waste of his talent with all the coke he did. I guess he is sober now and everyone deserves a second chance. He would be a nice comeback story.

Also the competition for the third keeper spot between Perkins and Robles will be worth watching.

Also a few other points:

Bradley's comments the other day strongly implied that Torres is higher on the pecking order than Adu. When you consider Torres played for Pachuca from July to May straight thanks to Superliga, the Apertura, Interliga, Copa Lib, Clausura and then the US games he needed a break. Bradley said something along the lines that he didn't want Torres to play 2 straight years without a break, which to me means he is a pretty solid bet for the next summer's world cup.

Now as far as Adu his words were far less complimentary and were subtle and diplomatic ways of saying Adu simply isn't good enough at this time to be in the mix. At least that's what I read from his comments.

You have to like Kartik's point. Ching is easy to overlook but when you see him up close and focus on what he does you know why Bradley likes him. Altidore is almost a fixture up front but what do you do with the most surprising player for the US this summer in Davies.

Having the Gold Cup now lets us work out some young players that can still help next year. It's great that we have so much depth.

I switched that category to wingers/playmakers. However, Adu can play on the wing and I've read that he's gotten to like playing wide ... being able to turn in and shoot.

The most interesting thing to watch will be the chemistry between Davies and Ching. If that develops well, Altidore can be safely put on the bench for World Cup 2010 and used as a late game sub.
