Watching Pachuca play an addled defense that entire first half was more than a little surprising. It was very much a "defend-and-counter" strategy, that looked like, sooner or later, it would fail to the more determined and possessing(possessive?) Houston side.

Stuart Holden worked his ass off the entire match, and I couldn't help but feel that subs at the half changed everything.

Corey Ashe, who had been dynamic up top and right against Arabe Unido was making some of the ugliest passes into the box, and subbing out Brian Ching (who's a workhorse) for Cam Weaver (who's less impressive as a man up front) was a headscratcher.

Seeing Jose F. Torres step in on Pachuca's side (plus swapping out Benitez for Gimenez) was a total momentum changer for Pachuca, and the entire time, I kept watching Holden and Torres battle for possession, I thought: "these are the two most dynamic midfielders on their respective squads, I'd love to see them together on a squad"

not mentioning that Arabe Unido manhandled and embarrassed Pachuca at home and thus gives Pachuca more than enough reason to return the favor is silly.

it looks as if all 3 teams are more than likely through.

Dynamo looked good but the finishing was dreadful. Rarely do you get possession vs a Mexican team. They Dynamo had plenty of possession and shots but could not convert.

I am very supportive of the CCL because it shows how modernized soccer is compared to other U.S. sports. When do you ever see MLB, NFL compete for a trophy against other countries leagues? I love it. Its just too bad the MLS is light years behind the FMF.
