Kartik:

Let me wish you and your wife a Happy New Year. Well, given that my Chicago Bears are a playoff no show I know how you feel. I am so old,`that when growing up baseball was king and the NFL was done by the New Year and started late September, and the NBA was something only the very few hardcore roundball fans were interested in and it finished in April. How things have changed.

I look forward the start of the MLS season with hope. You point out clear dangers taken from past hard lessons, but soccer's future is bright in America. 24/7 sports networks have helped changed that greatly. We go into 2008 knowing we will have extensive coverage of both the USA mens and womens teams, as well as Euro 2008, and the Olympic games. I say that the glass is half full for the MLS and hope they will take the right fork in the road. Eager to hear the year end wrap up.

"Can you imagine if we had a one game playoff on national TV for “bragging rights” between Bolton and Middlesbrough?"

Feb 29, 2004 - Carling Cup Final - And we beat their sorry asses, and still own them to this day.

Sorry...you just got unlucky with your example :)
