Hey everybody,
LA does not hate Backham. A group of LA fans do. I am a LA Galaxy fan and I am part of a group a fans who do not have anything against Beckham. I was at the LA Galaxy vrs Milan and the LA galaxy vrs Barcelona games and even though the fans are divided, I do not believe it is the majority. During the Barcelona game most of the booing came from the Barcelona fans. If you remember, he did not want to play for Barca and decided Madrid instead. He even help the Merengues take the Spanish league tittle from Barcelona in the last game of the 06/07 season (Ouch , that hurts). We undertand the business of Football and no player playing in the American continent will pass an offer to play in a league like the Italian league (not even Donovan). At least Beckham is not in the news for a reason like Many Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, Donte Stallworth, etc. We will continue to support the LA Galaxy and I hope Beckham can help us win the tittle this year, even if it is his last in the MLS.

Hulk Hogan turned heel and the fans still loathed (loved) him....why can't Beckham. He could play this villian role and get the fans in a frenzy.

A great villain is more interesting than a great hero. Watch the dark knight if you disagree.

Good point eplnfl. I could see LA playing at Seattle in the playoffs and with Seattle popularity mixed with the Beckham factor, we could see a classic on national TV. Beckham could make it all right with a great performance under those conditions.

The old adage applies here that bad publicity is ok what hurts is none. What pro-sports figure of Beckham's league is not a player who thinks the sport runs on their terms. So, it's just superstar business as usual and it works to get headlines for him and MLS. I say all the better.

He is in Hollywood now, so it's alright if he is cast as a bad guy in a role every once in a while. When he leads LA in to the finals and makes a big national event of it, all will be forgotten. Look, the LA fans can forgive Kobe Bryant and make him and icon, Beckham is no where close. So the stage is set for a ride to the MLS finals, before a huge live and TV audience and then he grabs a few more headlines as he then rides off to the Italian sunset. It's Hollywood, you have to love it!

"As his world turns, so do the fans. He is a mercurial figure for American fans. They just don’t know how to feel about him. "

You're out of your mind if you seriously believe this. I think it's pretty clear how we feel about him.

For a weird reason, I kinda like Beckham now. Maybe its because I hate LA and LA hates him. I think it would be cool if my Houston Dynamo were to sign him after he gets done playing in his final world cup. We could try and work out a more reasonable contract. He might be willing, considering that the Dynamo have been the class of the MLS for the last few years.

He could finish out his career with an MLS title and maybe even a CONCACAF title. Maybe even face the some of the big boys in the club world cup. With a team like the Dynamo, these things are all realistic.
