Think the friendly may be against Monarcas Morelia. That is a rumour I heard.

And, my God… please put the stadium someplace close to anything. Robertson Stadium is so far from both airports, from downtown, from other stadia, and from public transit that it’s all but unusable for anybody but Houstonians.

“Stadium is so far from both airports”

It is a stones throw from Hobby. Well 10 miles :) 5.6 miles from Reliant stadium, and 3.6 miles from Tutti Fruitti park (minute maid). The problem is intercontinental is in the middle of nowhere. That is downright “next door” for Texas.
Last rumors I heard there was talk of placing the soccer specific stadium across 59 from Minute maid/George R. Brown convention center….

And, please, someplace close to where you can get a beer before/after the game!

Robertson Stadium is less than a ten minute drive from downtown Houston, which also means it’s that close to both Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center. It is practically in the shadow of I-45 which puts it off of one of Houston’s main arteries, which incidentally is the primary route for most people to get to both Hobby and IAH. If Robertson were any more centrally located the mayor would have an office there.

Coming from Louisiana here, using New Orleans as my counterexample. The Superdome is walking distance from the French Quarter and approximately twenty thousand hotel rooms.

Robertson is walking distance from…. a couple of chicken shacks in the Third Ward, and nothing of note, and it still mandates a drive everywhere you go.

Something across 45 from Minute Maid seems like the right thing to do (closer to hotels and … well, the Main Street corridor is all right, I suppose).

The stadium will be located in downtown Houston, just east of Highway 59. It’ll be close to Minute Maid Park, which is on the west side of Highway 59. There are several pubs in that area. In all reality, it won’t be too far from Robertson, but it’ll be closer to a freeway.

Houston in general does not have the best public transit system; however, there are plans to build a light rail line that will have a station near the stadium. IAH, our main airport, is so far north, that you’ll never have much close to it. Hobby Airport, on the other hand, is not that far from Robertson stadium.

Robertson is only 20 minutes from Katy if you take the tollway. I stayed with some family in Katie and hit some UH games a couple of years ago when I was tring to get into grad school there. Not too bad of a location.

Ugh, why did Oscar have to join in with a usa team rather than a Mexican team. At least turn the Dynamo into an exclusively Hispanic brand. Ugh. You traitor, Oscar. I’m glad Pretty Boy Floyd whupped your ass.

How exactly is he a traitor? You do realize Oscar was born in the United States don’t you?
